Pray this Lazaroo in the assurance only God can give:

“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.”
(Matthew 4:23-24)

Every disease, Jesus

and every person.

There’s no part of my body You can’t heal

because You’re the one who made it.

Pray this Lazaroo with compassion:

“Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder, never without victims!”
(Nahum 3:1)

That’s what got to You the most, wasn’t it, Jesus?

The victims.

Those who lost their lives due to the monstrous cruelty embedded in Nineveh’s culture.

Those who lost loved ones, grieving without relief.
Broken promises, broken homes, broken lives.

It was all about the victims then

it’s all about the victims now.

You’re the same – yesterday, today and forever.

Our suffering
continues to break Your heart!

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath; my eyes will never see happiness again. The eye that now sees me will see me no longer; you will look for me, but I will be no more.”
(Job 7:7-8)

This is absolutely how Job felt, Jesus

but what he felt was absolutely wrong.

He spoke out of the pain and bitterness of his immense suffering

supposing they would continue till the day he died.

They didn’t.

You stepped in and rescued him!

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful anticipation:

“The Lord their God…will restore their fortunes.”
(Zephaniah 2:7)

When things were going well for me, Jesus, I loved it.

I thought it was always going to be that way.

Then I discovered:

It wasn’t.

My sins caused some of it – maybe all of it.

But it might have simply been
that You needed me to fight some of Your battles.

If my suffering is caused by sin, I’ve got to repent!

Either way, I long to live once more

under the spout
where Your glory comes out!

Pray this Lazaroo in aching compassion:

“…what do your arguments prove? Do you mean to correct what I say, and treat my desperate words as wind? You would even cast lots for the fatherless and barter away your friend.”
(Job 6:25-27)

That must be how the suffering feel, Jesus

when I point out to them the error of their ways.

Job was in the right.
His friends in the wrong.

Is it possible I’m the one who’s in error?

Help me set a guard over my mouth.

Pray this Lazaroo in submissive recognition:

“…when we were torn away from you…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:17)

Clearly, that was a painful time, Jesus

but You allowed it.
It’s entirely possible that You caused it!

Why would You allow something so painful to happen to one of Your own?

It’s because not everything that’s painful is bad, isn’t it?
Sometimes pain is useful, instructive, essential, eye-opening.

No greater example of that hard truth exists

than the suffering You endured on the cross

for those you love.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt.”
(1 Samuel 2:17)

We no longer make burnt offerings to You, Jesus.

Today, we give You tithes and offerings.
We offer our services of time and talent to Your Church.

We show love to You by our gifts to the poor
to those who are sick, suffering, grieving.

Let no one treat these precious offerings with contempt!

Pray this Lazaroo with new understanding:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus…”
(Philemon 1:23)

Misery loves company, Jesus.

That got Epaphras a mention in the pages of Scripture!

But as much as it helps to have someone else suffering like I am

it’s a whole ‘nuther level when we’re both suffering
because of our love for You.

That’s a brotherhood…a sisterhood –

a bond so strong that no words can do it justice!

To find someone else who loves You that much

is priceless.

Pray this Lazaroo in stunned gratitude:

“The LORD will…again choose…”
(Zechariah 2:12)

When I’ve done what I shouldn’t have, Jesus

sinning against You

when my sins have forced You to discipline me

bringing me pain, sorrow, suffering, excruciating regret

it can feel like You and I will never be close again
that I’ve forever lost the precious intimacy we had –

until, in repentance, I look up in happy, near disbelief

to realize You choose once again

to experience deep, daily, moment-by-moment

1on1 relationship with me.
