Pray this Lazaroo with new understanding:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus…”
(Philemon 1:23)

Misery loves company, Jesus.

That got Epaphras a mention in the pages of Scripture!

But as much as it helps to have someone else suffering like I am

it’s a whole ‘nuther level when we’re both suffering
because of our love for You.

That’s a brotherhood…a sisterhood –

a bond so strong that no words can do it justice!

To find someone else who loves You that much

is priceless.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“…my groans pour out like water.”
(Job 3:24)

Few people can identify with the depth of Job’s suffering, Jesus.

But You can.

Job had lost almost everything – his wealth, his children and his health.

The only thing that remained were his so-called friends
who told him he was getting what he deserved

a wife who told him to curse You and die

and his life.

But you gave even that – Your life! – out of love for me.

Thank You!

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…you will suffer persecution for ten days.”
(Revelation 2:10)

At first glance, that’s not a particularly uplifting message, Jesus!

You could have prevented persecution from ever touching their lives.

But on second look, it is encouraging:

Since You chose not to prevent the persecution
there had to be a good reason for it.

You never allow Satan to touch Your people unless it’s worthwhile –

to You and to us.

Good to remember…

next time You allow persecution to come my way.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I rejoice in what was suffered for you…”
(Colossians 1:24)

After their babies are born,

mothers feel that, Jesus.

When they’re overwhelmed with love for their newborn

they affirm that the agony of giving birth
was all worthwhile.

Many of them do it again….and again…and again.

By faith, may I say the same about the suffering You’ve allowed in my life, Father!

When I see what You’ve done with it, may I rejoice!

because the agony was all worthwhile.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer.”
(Revelation 2:10)

That’s a tough command to obey, Jesus!

That word, “suffer” gets my attention.

For You to tell me not to be afraid of it is a challenge.

I don’t like to suffer.

That’s like telling me, “I’m about to hit you, but just relax.”

Not my strong suit.

But You’re encouraging me to trust You

because You’ll make sure
I’ll come out better on the other side.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“You suffered…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:14)

So have I, Jesus –

oh, not as badly as some of Your people…
but I’ve suffered more than I thought I would.

Not that You didn’t warn me!

You made it clear that as Your child
I’ve got to pick up my cross and follow You.

I just didn’t know it would be this heavy.
I didn’t know I would have to carry it so far

or so long.

But that’s okay –

‘cause You’re worth it.

Pray this Lazaroo in wise faith:

“When Bathsheba went to King Solomon…the king…bowed down to her…”
(1 Kings 2:19)

I love the respect Solomon showed his mother, Jesus.

Of all his wise behaviors
this may have been his best.

I wonder…

did he know what his mother endured to be in this position?

Was he aware that King David killed her husband to hide the pregnancy he had caused

resulting in his older brother’s death?

O God!

Give me mad respect for those who’ve suffered.
