Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of Daughter Zion. The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel.”
(Lamentations 2:4-5)

You’re nothing to mess with, Jesus!

Sadly, Your people learned that the hard way
when they repeatedly ignored You
and profaned Your Holy Name.

I prefer to learn that horrible lesson

vicariously.

Pray this Lazaroo in stunned gratitude:

“The LORD has surely given the whole land into our hands…”
(Joshua 2:24)

That’s how good You Are, Jesus!

You gave them all they could handle
plus a little more.

As I survey my own landscape

I’d say You’ve done the same for me
with emphasis on the, “plus a little more.” 😉

Oh, sure.

Sometimes, I think I want more
but I’m learning – sometimes the hard way:

I’m still trying to figure out how to handle
what I’ve already got.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…spoken against him.”
(Jude 1:15)

My tongue is a hard thing to control, Jesus.

Just about the time I think I’ve learned how
I learn the hard way that I haven’t.

I would never intentionally speak against You!

Never!
Never!
Never!

But when I complain

that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Nothing occurs unless You make it happen or allow it.

You’re in charge. You own it all.
And You’re no absentee landlord.

No matter what!

Please help me remember.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“Once you were…enemies in your minds…”
(Colossians 1:21)

It’s true, Jesus.

There was a time when I was Your enemy.
I wanted my own way, not Yours.

So You allowed me to discover the hard way –

though not as hard as it could have been! –

that my way had a few holes in it.
Okay. More like Swiss cheese.

The thing that stuns and melts me

is the way You welcome me with open arms
the moment I repent.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“The LORD…humbles and he exalts.”
(1 Samuel 2:7)

Some people think you only exalt, Jesus.

The experience of others leads them to believe
all You do is humble

at least when it comes to them.

But there’s a lot more to You than any of us can grasp.

Just when we think we’ve got You figured out
we learn we don’t

sometimes the hard way
sometimes not.

I prefer to be exalted, LORD!

but that usually comes
after I’m humbled.
