You, Jesus:

The Branch.
The promised Messiah –

the long-awaited one – the only one –
who could deliver us from our sins.

But You came as You almost always do –

in a way and time we could not have imagined
to pay for our sins with Your own life

in a way we could not have imagined.

Everything we know has a beginning and an end, Jesus…

except You.

You had no beginning. You have no end.

You’ve always been.
You will always be.

Your Word is the same, because Your Word flows from You!

Your Word stands forever.

If I stand on Your Word

then I, too –

though I have had a beginning –

will have no end.

“…they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

Your prophets knew what that was like, Jesus

I’d like to know what that’s like, too.

I don’t want to be carried along by Satan

by the crowd

by my best friend

by my own thoughts.

Those carriers can’t get me very far –

not in the right direction, at least!

You’re the only one who can carry me safely

perfectly

in the right way

all the way home.
