Pray this Lazaroo in passionate gratitude:

“Until now…”
(Haggai 2:19)

The “until now” of the past tries to hold us captive, Jesus

But You came to change that.

In You –

what I used to be, used to do, the way I used to think –

are irrelevant.

My future is as bright as Your promises –

which are dazzlingly brilliant!

I’m no longer required to drive forward while looking in my rearview mirror.

In You, I can look ahead

and see unfolding before my eyes

new possibilities!

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed expectation:

“I am in torment within…”
(Lamentations 1:20)

That’s the best way to start this New Year, isn’t it, Jesus?

The last thing I need to do is blunder into this first month

thinking today is just like the day before
this year is just like the last.

It isn’t.

If I put my hope in You alone

turning my back on every sin that has crippled me in the past

this year

can be the best of my life.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“They are…disobedient…”
(Titus 1:16)

May that never be said about me, Jesus…

…in the future.

That’s my one hope – my future obedience in You.

Because I’ve had a disobedient past.

Most people hold others’ pasts against them.

Some of us even hold it against ourselves.

But You’re the God of the Fresh Start!

You’re the only one who can erase
the failures of my permanent record.

You’re the only one who can take my ugly

and make it beautiful.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“…consider how things were…”
(Haggai 1:15)

That cuts both ways, Jesus.

I could think back to a better time
and get depressed.

Or I could think back to a worse time
and be encouraged.

But one thing’s for sure:

I can’t go back to what once was.

That was then.
This is now.

As I, “consider how things were…”

help me learn from my mistakes
and profit from my successes

while realizing that You and You alone

hold all my tomorrows.
