Pray this Lazaroo with a heart full of gratitude:

“…founded a dynasty for me…”
(1 Kings 2:24)

It’s true, Jesus!

That’s what You did for David.

You founded a dynasty for him
that led to You.

But praise God!

The dynasty didn’t end with You!

The whole point of what You did for David

and what You did on the cross

was to establish a dynasty
for countless millions who would believe in You.

So when You founded that dynasty for David

You were also founding it for me.

Pray this Lazaroo with determination:

“Malkijah…and Hasshub…repaired another section…”
(Nehemiah 3:11)

Some days that’s how it goes, Jesus.

In fact, most days that’s how it goes.

Another section, another task like yesterday’s, another day like the one before.

Not starting anything, not completing anything
slogging through the interminable middle.

At such times it’s hard to grab perspective.

It’s easy to lose the whole point

until I remember that this is what You call, “faithfulness”

and that You richly, lavishly, with absolute certainty

reward it.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“…not to mention…”
(Philemon 1:19)

Why do I say things like that, Jesus?

Yes, You gave those words to Paul
to gently chide those meeting in Philemon’s home.

Knowing You, it got their attention –

just as I hope it will when I use similar statements.

Sometimes the “one more thing”

is actually the whole point!

Please help me be attentive when others use such words with me, Father

so I don’t miss what You’re saying to me
through them.
