Pray this Lazaroo in Godly wisdom:

“Then the king said, ‘Bring me a sword.’ So they brought a sword for the king. He then gave an order: ‘Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.’”
(1 King 3:24-25)

My guess, Jesus?

Solomon wasn’t about to do what he threatened.

This was a test –

to discover which woman
was the mother of the living baby.

Help me want the best for the one I love

even if it means I must do without.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.”
(Jonah 3:10)

That’s what I’ve had to do times beyond counting, Jesus:

turn from my evil ways!

I don’t know why I keep having to do that.

You would think I’d learn by now:

Leaving Your path never pays.

But I marvel at the fact that no matter how many times I have to repent

You are faithful to forgive!

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“When Mordecai learned of all that had been done, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the city, wailing loudly and bitterly.”
(Esther 4:1)

Mordecai felt exactly the way most of us would feel, Jesus

when confronted with horrific, disastrously unacceptable news.

He was right.

The threatened annihilation of all the Jews was catastrophic.

But He was also wrong.

Because You were about to turn this unthinkable situation
into stunning victory.

Help me remember that

next time I’m tempted to lose it over bad news.

Pray this Lazaroo, overwhelmed with gratitude:

“…the word of the Lord is against you, Canaan, land of the Philistines. He says, ‘I will destroy you, and none will be left.’”
(Zephaniah 2:5)

It’s one thing to be defeated in battle, Jesus

to be shamed and disgraced
taken captive, reduced to slavery.

But this time it was worse.

The Philistines so infuriated You with their blatant idolatry
that You threatened to annihilate them

leaving no survivors.

That’s what my sins deserve.

But instead of wrath –

through the cross –

You’ve offered me mercy!

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“Mesha king of Moab…had to supply the king of Israel with a hundred thousand lambs…”
(2 Kings 3:4)

That’s a daunting task, Jesus –

especially for someone being forced to do it
or else.

Every task is made harder when I’m being coerced, pressured, threatened

when I’m being forced to try to accomplish it against my will.

But what if I choose to change my attitude?

What if I realize in the big picture

everything I do
is for You.
