Pray this Lazaroo with deep longing:

“I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink.”
(2 John 1:12)

Of course, John didn’t have available what we do, Jesus.

He didn’t have a cell phone.
He didn’t have email or text.
He didn’t have social media, Face Time or Zoom.

No doubt He would have used the living daylights out of those tools!

But something tells me there would still be times for him

as there are today

when nothing but face-to-face will do.

Those are Your precious words to me, Jesus!

It’s not how strong I am.
It’s not how smart I am.
It’s not how much money I have.
It’s not how well-connected I am.
It’s not the sophistication of my tools.
It’s not how many degrees I’ve earned..

It’s You!

It doesn’t do a whole lot of good to have opportunities, tools and ability, Jesus

to use them.

Pray this Lazaroo in wholehearted adoration:

“…to the church that meets in your home…”
(Philemon 1:2)

That’s how it started, isn’t it, Jesus?

In addition to gathering in the temple courts

small groups of Your people
met together in one another’s homes.

There they ate together
studied Your Word together
prayed together.

Certainly, we have awesome electronic tools at our disposal

to facilitate those two ways of meeting as Your Church.

But can we possibly improve on that simple plan today?

No.
We can’t.

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“The spears of pine are brandished.”
(Nahum 2:3)

Aren’t spears supposed to be made of metal, Jesus?

It would be scary to go into battle with a pine spear
against an army of people carrying iron spears.

Still…with Your help, blessing and protection

a pine spear is all I need.

Help me to trust You to provide victory

through the weapons, tools, materials
education, location, people

You’ve given me.

Not by might, not by power…

but by Your Spirit.
