Pray this Lazaroo in humbled gratitude:

“Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.”
(Hebrews 5:8-10)

You’re my High Priest, Jesus.

You’re the One I go to, when I’m in trouble.
You’re the One I thank, when things go well.
You’re the One I trust, when things don’t go the way I planned.

Pray this Lazaroo in passionate trust:

“I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, ‘Do not go beyond what is written.’ Then you will not be puffed up in being a follower of one of us over against the other.”
(1 Corinthians 4:6)

We’re all the time going beyond what is written in Your Word, Jesus

which gets us in a heap of trouble!

Keep calling me back to Your beautiful, perfect

unvarnished Truth.

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn recognition:

“His mouth is full of lies and threats; trouble and evil are under his tongue. He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent. His eyes watch in secret for his victims; like a lion in cover he lies in wait. He lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.”
(Psalm 10:7-9)

The key to this description, Jesus?

“…like a lion…”

You’re the Lion of Judah.

Satan is trying to be like You

and spectacularly failing.

Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

“…pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people…”
(2 Thessalonians 3:2)

Sometimes these people seemingly pop up out of nowhere, Jesus.

But more times than not
I had a hand in bringing them into my life.

Of course, I didn’t know at the time
how much trouble they’d be.

But You did.

You’ve warned me repeatedly
about what happens
when I consort with the wrong people.

I don’t deserve deliverance from their clutches.

But in Your loving mercy
I’m begging You to do exactly that.

Pray this Lazaroo in simple, profound trust:

“Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak, who are caught in the schemes he devises. He boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the Lord.”
(Psalm 10:1-3)

In a heartbeat, Jesus

You could stop every evil person
from saying or doing anything wrong.

which would make us all nothing more than robots.

Instead, You’ve chosen to give us the freedom to choose You

or reject You.

Go and do likewise, after you pray this Lazaroo!

“One day when Elisha came, he went up to his room and lay down there. He said to his servant Gehazi, ‘Call the Shunammite.’ So he called her, and she stood before him. Elisha said to him, ‘Tell her, “You have gone to all this trouble for us. Now what can be done for you?”’”
(2 Kings 4:11-13)

I love that Elisha did that, Jesus.

So do You.

You had prompted this Shunammite woman to be good to Elisha

so he wanted You to do something special for her!

Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“This is what the Lord says to Israel: ‘Seek me and live; do not seek Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba….Seek the Lord and live, or he will sweep through the tribes of Joseph like a fire; it will devour them, and Bethel will have no one to quench it.’”
(Amos 5:4-6)

When I’m in trouble, Jesus

why do I ever turn
to anyone, anywhere or anything than You?

All of my so-called “deliverers” will fail.

You alone have the power to rescue me!

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“The Lord reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment. He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”
(Psalm 9:7-10)

You’re my Refuge, Jesus!

My Stronghold!

I know Your Name, JEHOVAH RAPHA!

You will not forsake us

for we seek You with all our hearts.

Never forget! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But now be so kind as to look at me. Would I lie to your face? Relent, do not be unjust; reconsider, for my integrity is at stake. Is there any wickedness on my lips? Can my mouth not discern malice?”
(Job 6:28-30)

Job can’t believe it, Jesus.

His friends have stopped comforting him
and started accusing him –

insisting all his troubles
are his fault!

Somehow they’ve forgotten there’s an enemy of our souls

who attacks the righteous.
