Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.”
(Philippians 2:20-21)

Timothy was someone truly special, Jesus.

Someone rare.

Will You please help me to follow in his footsteps?

Help me show genuine concern for the welfare of others!

Rather than my own interests
help me look out for Yours.

I don’t have to worry about doing without!

Your loving generosity has no limit.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?”
(John 3:11-12)

This had to be so frustrating for You, Jesus!

You spoke the truth.
They refused to believe.

There is so much more You’re willing to show us

if only we will accept
what You’ve already revealed.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’”
(John 3:5-7)

I can do all the good within my power to do, Jesus

but I can’t save myself.

I’m looking to You alone to save me

as I trust in Your death, burial and resurrection.

Pray this Lazaroo with a transparent heart:

“Anyone who does what is good is from God.”
(3 John 1:11)

That’s…quite a statement, Jesus.

There are a lot of people out there
who don’t accept You as Savior
who do good.

Oh, but wait a minute.

A deed is truly good
only when it’s done from pure motives –

and pure motives
originate with You.

When I do a so-called good deed
to win the approval of others

I’m serving myself –

not You or them

and the deed is soiled.

Pray this Lazaroo in Godly determination:

“The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.”
(1 Chronicles 9:13)

Make me like these, Jesus –

able…and responsible –
ministering in Your house.

Only You – the Giver of every good gift –

can make me competent to do Your Work!

Help me be truly responsible –

fulfilling my duties day after day, without fail.

And no matter where You place me in Your Church –

from the front to the back pew –

use me to minister to Your precious people!

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit…”
(Colossians 2:5)

A lot of people use this verse to justify why they didn’t show up, Jesus.

They say “I can’t come, but I’ll be with you in spirit.”
Then they promptly put those people out of their minds.

But not Paul.

He truly connected with those he couldn’t be with.
He cared for them, prayed for them, identified with them.

Heavenly Father!
May I do the same.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…they allowed no one to cross over. At that time they struck down about ten thousand Moabites, all vigorous and strong; not one escaped. That day Moab was made subject to Israel, and the land had peace for eighty years.”
(Judges 3:28-30)

What an amazing victory, Jesus!

But the Israelites were not that superior to the Moabites.

It wasn’t them.
It was You.

Do I need to work on my skills and improve in every way possible?

Sure.

But to truly win?

Only You.

Pray this Lazaroo in stark realization:

“But someone will say, ‘You have faith; I have deeds.’ Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”
(James 2:18-19)

My faith and my actions.

They’re not separate, are they, Jesus?

If I have faith
my life will show it.

If I don’t have faith
my life will show it.

My actions reveal whether or not I truly believe

in You.

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God who can:

“…the slave is freed from his master.”
(Job 3:19)

Pretty fitting on this 4th of July, Jesus!

There came a day in the history of these United States
when we could no longer endure England’s rule.

But Job was referring to death –

which, because of his pain
looked mighty good to him at that time.

O God!

Help me truly, utterly, completely, irrevocably die
to my old sin master Satan

and walk in the freedom

of obedience to You.
