Pray this Lazaroo in humble circumspection:

“Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.”
(1 Timothy 3:1)

It’s natural, Jesus –

to look at what one of Your leaders is doing and think:

“I’d like to do that!”

It’s a noble thing to want to serve You.

They are to be commended, encouraged, helped,
guided, taught, prayed over.

But O God!

May only those You’ve truly called pursue that course

because in truth

they know not what they ask.

Pray this Lazaroo with sharp anticipation:

“Here is a trustworthy saying…”
(2 Timothy 2:11)

Of course, everything in Your Word is trustworthy, Jesus

so when You set up what You’re about to say like this

You’re telling me it’s huge.

Not only that…

but it’s a “saying” –

something You want frequently repeated
so Your people get it deeply embedded in their DNA –

something You probably want me to memorize.

Okay. Got it. Ready:
