Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“Now it is your turn!”
(Habakkuk 2:16)

Normally, Jesus –

when it’s finally my turn, I’m so happy!
I’m filled with excitement!

Not this time.

You’re telling me that if I take unfair advantage of others

I’ve planted deep into Your soil of justice a seed

that will sprout, send up shoots, bud, flower
and produce bitter fruit.

Then my turn will come to take not one bite

but to choke down every bit of it
until I vomit.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. But you are a chosen people…”
(1 Peter 2:8-9)

I hardly know what to do with this, Jesus.

To think that some people are destined to reject You
seems so unfair.

But to think that You chose and destined me to accept You?
That’s awesome!

Bottom line?

I trust You!
Your ways are far superior to mine.

And I am beyond grateful

to be included in Your wholly undeserved, unfathomable love!

Pray this Lazaroo in humble gratitude:

“…a foreigner…”
(Ruth 2:10)

Ruth isn’t the only one, Jesus.

I, too, am a foreigner.

This world is not my home!

Just about the time I forget that
behaving as though this world is it

You allow it
to rear its perverse, unfair, twisted head.

In deepest gratitude I lift my eyes back to You

my longing for heaven increased…doubled…tripled.

Only with You will I finally be at home.
Only with You will I know lasting rest, happiness, peace.

Pray this Lazaroo, counting on God to make it right:

“…you have…shown partiality…”
(Malachi 2:9)

You hate that, don’t You, Jesus?

So do I.

When the playing field isn’t level

when referees favor one team over the other
when the in-crowd accepts a few and shuns the rest
when a parent loves one child more than another

when one person is given more than the other
though both deserve it equally.

when the outcome is decided in advance

behind closed doors
before the public vote
which takes place only for show.

Saturday, November 10, 2018…….. 5th Anniversary of 1on1 Church!

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“…God’s Word is not chained.”
(2 Timothy 2:9)

They threw Paul in prison, Jesus –

chained him like a criminal.

Why? For preaching the good news about You –

that You were crucified for the sins of all who believe
that You rose from the dead three days later
that You’re coming back for Your own.

They wanted to shut him up.

But all they could do was chain the man.

They couldn’t chain truth then

and can’t do it now.

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“Does [the LORD] do such things?”
(Micah 2:7)

Unbelieving people accuse You of doing so much wrong, Jesus.

But is that what You do?

No!

Because it’s not who You are.

Do You punish wrong? Yes –

though not as our sins deserve.

Are You unfair in Your judgments? Absolutely not.

Instead, just the opposite – You are uncomprehendingly merciful.

Is there an eternal hell that awaits all evildoers? Certainly –

along with an eternal, glorious heaven
for every sinner who repents.

Pray this Lazaroo in renewed horror…and gratitude:

“…through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”
(Colossians 1:20)

The peace with You I now enjoy wasn’t made at a conference table, Jesus.

It wasn’t agreed to with a handshake
wasn’t wordsmithed on a piece of paper.

It was paid in full by You

through Your excruciatingly painful

ugly
wholly undeserved
patently unfair
outrageously unjust
humiliating death

on the cross.

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the power of God:

“…it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed…”
(1 Peter 1:18)

“It’s all about the money.”

That’s what people say, Jesus.

They may be right about some things
but they’re wrong about the one thing that matters most:

my eternal salvation.

No amount of silver or gold could pay the sin debt I’ve accumulated over my lifetime.

The cost of my redemption was unjust, unfair – outrageous:

Your blood, shed on the cross.
