It’s incredibly hard to stand still, Jesus –

especially when everybody else is hurrying past
under the shadow of a towering wall of water!

But may I move when You say move

and stay put when You so command.

Pray this Lazaroo with undisguised yearning:

“I asked the angel who talked with me, ‘What are these, my lord?’ He answered, ‘Do you not know what these are?’ ‘No, my lord,’ I replied.”
(Zechariah 4:4-5)

There are a lot of things I don’t understand, Jesus!

That doesn’t mean I don’t trust You.

I do.

I also acknowledge there are some things

I won’t have the capacity to grasp
until I get to heaven.

Even so…

When I see evil people getting away with outrageous atrocities, Jesus

this is the kind of prayer I want to pray!

I want the whole world to see what You do
to punish those who sin

until, stunned

I remember I’m a sinner, too.
