Pray this Lazaroo in stunned gratitude:

“In every province to which the edict and order of the king came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping and wailing. Many lay in sackcloth and ashes.”
(Esther 4:3)

Horrible news does that to us, Jesus!

For the Jews, this news was about as bad as it gets.

The king had issued a decree
that made it legal to destroy their entire nation.

But as You do again and again for Your hurting people

You were about to turn that bad news upside down!

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…David sent messengers…demanding, ‘Give me my wife Michal’…So Ish-Bosheth gave orders and had her taken away from her husband Paltiel…Her husband, however, went with her, weeping behind her all the way to Bahurim. Then Abner said to him, ‘Go back home!’ So he went back.”
(2 Samuel 3:14-16)

Paltiel knew King Saul gave him Michal to spite David, Jesus.

Did he surrender her to do what was right

or because he was afraid of Abner?

May no one have to threaten me, Father!

to make me do what’s right.

Pray this Lazaroo in passionate entreaty:

“Let the priests, who minister before the Lord, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, ‘Spare your people, Lord. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, “Where is their God?”’”
(Joel 2:17)

You’re telling us how to pray, Jesus!

that is…if we want You to hear us:

with sincere, heartfelt, passionate weeping
with deep concern for the honor of Your Great Name.

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn self-appraisal:

“My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within; my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed…”
(Lamentations 2:11)

I could say the same about the people in my country, Jesus!

They’re racing down a steep slope of disobedience
heading straight for a cliff that will plunge them to their death.

But do my eyes fail from weeping
Am I in torment within?
Is my heart poured out on the ground?

We desperately need revival

but how much do I really care?

Be forewarned, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The Amorites who lived in those hills came out against you; they chased you like a swarm of bees and beat you down from Seir all the way to Hormah. You came back and wept before the Lord, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you.”
(Deuteronomy 1:44-45)

You’re longsuffering, Jesus

but there comes a day when I will ignore You for the last time.

And then…God help me!

You’ll ignore me.

Pray this Lazaroo in fervency of spirit:

“‘Even now,’ declares the Lord, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.’”
(Joel 2:12)

You’re saying it’s not too late, Jesus!

Not as long as I have breath in my lungs
and a heart open to You.

But I’ve got to I understand:

You’re not saying, “It’s never too late.”

Because for those who repeatedly reject You
allowing their hearts to become hard over the years?

The day of no return will come.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.”
(Psalms 6:8-9)

I’m so glad You hear my weeping, Jesus.

I try not to weep.
I want to be strong.
I don’t want to be a complainer.

But even when I keep it bottled up so no one knows

You hear my silent weeping
from deep within my soul.

Thank You!

Pray this Lazaroo with a broken heart:

“…Rachel weeping for her children…”
(Matthew 2:18)

A lot of us are following Rachel’s lead, Jesus

weeping for our children

some of us because our children have died, like Rachel’s

but far more because they’ve gone astray

rejected their upbringing
turned their backs on You

been sucked in by addictions
deceived by the fleeting pleasures of sin.

May my grief not be limited to biological children and grandchildren

but extend to the children of this generation.

Help me
help them!
