Take warning as you pray this Lazaroo:

“If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them. Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.”
(2 John 1:10-11)

I’m no innocent bystander, am I, Jesus?

Even though  I claim to belong to You

while welcoming and befriending
buddying up and hanging out

with people who deny Your Name
with those who reject Your Word

I’m in the same boat with them

which is going to sink.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or welcome them.”
(2 John 1:10)

This sounds rude, Jesus…

but it isn’t.
It’s life-saving.

I shouldn’t welcome a child-molester into a home with small children, either.

As bad as that would be
a spirit-molester would be infinitely worse.

When a heretical teacher leads people astray

it’s not just life and death that are at stake.
The stakes are eternal life and death.

Heaven…and hell.

Determine to take action, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…he even refuses to welcome other believers. He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.”
(3 John 1:10)

What kind of person behaves in this way, Jesus?

Certainly not someone led by Your Holy Spirit.

I suspect they’re being led by none other than Satan himself.

But why would they allow that?

Maybe they’re a Christian in name only
planted by Satan to disrupt the love in Your Church.

Thankfully, You’ve given us the proper way

to deal with such people.

Pray this Lazaroo with courageous discernment:

“…he even refuses to welcome other believers. He also stops those who want to do so…”
(3 John 1:10)

What kind of person behaves like this in Your Church, Jesus?

He’s a plant, isn’t he?
Slipped in by Satan.

Perhaps he’s someone with money or social prominence.

Maybe he holds an office in the church
or simply has been there a long time.

He may be a sinning believer.
He may only pretend to be a believer.

But either way, he’s got to stop

or go.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will not welcome us. So when I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, spreading malicious nonsense about us. Not satisfied with that, he even refuses to welcome other believers.”
(3 John 1:9-10)

This guy’s a piece of work, Jesus.

He’s so afraid he’ll lose his position in the church
that he wants no one else to attend!

May I always put the spread of Your gospel

ahead of my own agenda!

Commit to stand! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will not welcome us. So when I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, spreading malicious nonsense…”
(3 John 1:9-10)

John wasn’t about to let this pass, Jesus.

Truth is too important.
Reputations are priceless.

If somebody is spreading malicious lies

they need to be stopped.

If what they’re claiming is utter nonsense

the holes, inconsistencies and fallacies
have to be pointed out.

Pray this Lazaroo in overcoming faith:

“Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death…”
(Revelation 2:13)

Oh, Jesus.

My first thought is, “Oh, no! Poor Antipas!”

But then I realize his death took him straight to heaven!

I can feel sorry for his friends and loved ones
but not for him.

My second thought is, “Oh, no! WHY Antipas?”

I mean, You Yourself said he was your “faithful witness.”

But then I envision the heavenly welcome he received

as Your faithful martyr.

Wow.

Pray this Lazaroo in non-argumentative submission:

“…welcome him as you would welcome me.”
(Philemon 1:17)

That’s a tall order, Jesus –

especially if I’m close to the person who’s making the request
and don’t know the person I’m supposed to welcome.

But isn’t that what You ask of me with every Christian I meet?

I’m supposed to treat them the way I’d treat You.

It doesn’t matter that they don’t deserve such a welcome.

That’s what You want
That’s what I’d better make sure You get.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“…welcome him…”
(Philemon 1:17)

Some people are easy to welcome, Jesus.

They’re outgoing, gracious, humble, fun.

Other people…not so much.

They’re surly, selfish, egotistic.
Some are downright mean, devious, evil.

Do You want me to welcome everybody?

No, You don’t.

You tell me to have nothing to do with some of them

not even eat with them.

But that doesn’t mean they can’t change.

With You, all things are possible.

My prayer?

In heaven

that You will welcome me.
