Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“Now since we are under obligation to the palace and it is not proper for us to see the king dishonored, we are sending this message to inform the king…”
(Ezra 4:14)

King Artaxerxes had to smell the stench from this heaping pile of garbage from a mile away, Jesus!

These two wicked, jealous yahoos were tattling
because Your chosen servant
was rattling their cages
by obeying You.

Great God!

Help me be a cage-rattler
instead of a garbage-pusher.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.”
(Isaiah 3:10-11)

Kinda sounds like I’m going to harvest what I plant, Jesus.

That being so…

I want to plant all the good I can possibly get in the ground
and keep pulling up all the weeds of my sin

that my sinful human nature keeps trying to sow.

Qualify for these promises, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.”
(Proverbs 3:24-26)

You’re not making this promise to everyone, are You, Jesus?

This happy state of affairs is for those

who do not let wisdom and understanding out of their sight
and preserve sound judgment and discretion!

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.”
(Ezekiel 3:18)

You couldn’t make it any clearer, Jesus.

I can’t quietly stand on the sidelines
thinking it doesn’t concern me
and watch it happen.

I’ve got to speak up!

Pray this Lazaroo with holy boldness:

“Then the royal officials at the king’s gate asked Mordecai, ‘Why do you disobey the king’s command?’”
(Esther 3:3)

The answer was simple, Jesus:

Haman was a wicked man who did not deserve to be honored.

But that wasn’t even the biggest reason.

Mordecai wasn’t about to bow down to anyone but You.
The fact that it was the king who ordered it was irrelevant

even though it might cost Mordecai his life.

May that kind of holy courage be mine!

Face it…as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…all will be condemned who…have delighted in wickedness.”
(2 Thessalonians 2:12)

At its best, Jesus…

wickedness isn’t as good as advertised.

Fun? Yes, it can be.

Pleasure? For sure.

But it’s not quite all that.

So I have to hype and pretend
to make up for the oversell –

a glass of over-steeped iced tea
short six teaspoons of sugar.

But the worst part is how quickly it’s over

…when I’m left with the aftermath

…the emptiness

…and the consequences.

Take warning, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the wicked will be cut off from the land…”
(Proverbs 2:22)

Without a land to live in, Jesus

there’s no way to go home.

Of course, before You cut them off

the wicked believe they’re getting away with the evil they’re doing.

They don’t believe there’s a God in heaven who not only sees

but will do something about it.

But when they’re cut off, do they repent?

No.

They blame everyone else and curse You

till their dying breath.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast belief:

“…we will not be responsible.”
(Joshua 2:19)

And they weren’t, Jesus!

I take my stand on Your promise:

If with all my heart I endeavor to please You in everything I think, say and do

if I warn those who are going astray
if I give chance after chance to those who’ve wronged me

I am not responsible for their wicked, defiant, foolish behavior

no matter how adamantly they or others
try to place that blame on my shoulders.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“…they will be completely destroyed.”
(Nahum 1:15)

That’s the future of the wicked, Jesus:

eternal destruction in the lake of fire
with the devil and his angels.

But only You know who they are.

Though I sometimes think I can tell
I’m not that smart.

Some of those who look like lost causes today

tomorrow could become Your heroes.

And some who at this time appear to be saints

are in truth sly hypocrites
under the control of Satan.
