Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…you must not be a prostitute…”
(Hosea 3:3)

Well, duh, Jesus.

That’s kind of a standing rule, isn’t it?

Why would Hosea say this to his wife?

It was because You told him to take her back, wasn’t it?
Even though she’d been unfaithful to him.

Broken laws need to be restated.

Am I in violation of any of Your commands, LORD?
If so, please tell me again

and in Your great mercy
give me another chance to obey.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“So Boaz said to Ruth, ‘My daughter, listen to me…’”
(Ruth 2:8)

Little did he know, Jesus…

that this young woman he called, “daughter”
would soon become his wife.

There’s a lot I don’t know, too, Father.

Thank You for revealing parts of it to me
when I need to know it!

But some of what I wish I knew

You keep hidden.

I don’t know why, but I know this:

There’s a good reason.
And I trust You.

Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and about a homer and a lethek of barley.”
(Hosea 3:2)

What kind of man would buy a woman, Jesus?

One who did it because You told him to.

Why did she have to be bought?

Because she was a prostitute.

Why would you tell him to buy such a woman?

Because she was his wife

and having sold myself into sin
that’s what You had to do for me.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“The LORD said to me, ‘Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another and is an adulteress.’”
(Hosea 3:1)

Seriously, Jesus?
Seriously?

Seriously.

For a husband to take his cheating wife back is hard enough.

But to show her love?

Who can do that?

You can.

And You do…

every time I sin against You and come crawling back.

If that’s how You treat me

how can I do less for others?

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“The LORD said to me, ‘Go, show your love to your wife…”
(Hosea 3:1)

Most husbands might have trouble showing love to a wife who is cheating on them, Jesus.

But the whole point is:

That’s what You want us to do for one another
because that’s what You do for us.

Sin is cheating on You with Satan.

But in spite of the fact that we’re spiritual adulterers
we still long for You to show us Your love.

Pray this Lazaroo with supernatural caution:

“…her house leads down to death…”
(Proverbs 2:18)

You’re warning me to watch out for the cheating spouse, aren’t You?

Thank You, Jesus!

Such a man or woman doesn’t usually enter my world with a sign around their neck that declares:

“Beware! I bring you death!”

But they should.

Any unrepentant wife willing to be unfaithful to her husband
any unrepentant husband willing to be unfaithful to his wife

only needs the next opportunity

to be unfaithful to me.

Be deeply humbled, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…give me Abishag the Shunammite as my wife.”
(1 Kings 2:17)

Adonijah didn’t want this beautiful woman so he could be a great husband to her, Jesus.

He wanted her for what he thought she could do for him.

How many brides and grooms begin their marriages that way?

“He makes me laugh.”
“She believes in me.”

How refreshing it would be to hear:

“I’m dedicating my life
to help her become everything Jesus created her to be.”
