Pray this Lazaroo with an eagerly waiting heart:

“‘The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.’ ‘How can this be?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘You are Israel’s teacher,’ said Jesus, ‘and do you not understand these things?’”
(John 3:8-10)

So much of Your Word, Jesus

I cannot understand on my own.

Teach me, Holy Spirit!

I long to see through Your eyes
and hear with ears You’ve opened!

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“There are those who turn justice into bitterness and cast righteousness to the ground. He who made the Pleiades and Orion, who turns midnight into dawn and darkens day into night, who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out over the face of the land—the Lord is his name.”
(Amos 5:7-8)

Yes, bitter, unrighteous people are out there, Jesus.

But You’re the One who turns darkness into light!

They’re only spitting into the wind.

Pray this Lazaroo with wiser eyes:

“…all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Fools fold their hands and ruin themselves. Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.”
(Ecclesiastes 4:4-6)

So there’s a balance, isn’t there, Jesus?

Work to accomplish what You’ve called me to do
not to keep up with someone else.

But even so, You want me to work –
and not make others do my job.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith…”
(1 Thessalonians 3:2)

I know it’s my responsibility to stay focused on You, Jesus

to grow in You and to please You
in everything I think, say and do.

But when You send someone along with the gift of encouragement –

someone themselves strong in You who models it for me –

that’s nothing less than fire in my heart
and wind beneath my wings!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth—the Lord God Almighty is his name.”
(Amos 4:13)

You Are Awesome, Jesus!

To think that You, the Creator of Everything
want to spend 1on1 time with me

sharing Your thoughts
transforming my life
giving me hope and a future.

Great and Mighty One!

You’re my Best Friend.

Pray this Lazaroo in aching compassion:

“…what do your arguments prove? Do you mean to correct what I say, and treat my desperate words as wind? You would even cast lots for the fatherless and barter away your friend.”
(Job 6:25-27)

That must be how the suffering feel, Jesus

when I point out to them the error of their ways.

Job was in the right.
His friends in the wrong.

Is it possible I’m the one who’s in error?

Help me set a guard over my mouth.

Pray this Lazaroo in flat-out amazement:

“For this is what the Lord says: ‘You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink.’ This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.”
(2 Kings 3:17-18)

You love to work through the natural order of Your creation, Jesus.

But You’re sure not limited to it!

Anytime You desire

You can supersede any law of nature You’ve ever established.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble willingness:

“They also repaired…as far as the Dung Gate.”
(Nehemiah 3:13)

But that’s where they stopped, Jesus.

Can’t blame them a bit.

The gate through which the excrement of humans and animals was disposed of

was not an attractive place –
especially when the wind was blowing the wrong direction!

But oh, what an important service that gate performed –

along with those who transported
their odoriferous cargo through it!

Make me willing to do the necessary tasks

no one wants to do.
