Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“But if you tell what we are doing…”
(Joshua 2:20)

It’s a scary thing to be at the mercy of what someone else knows, Jesus!

All they have to do is speak
and I’m done.

That’s the dilemma I’m in with You.

You know too much about me.

All the more terrifying

because You’re Prosecutor, Witness and Judge.

My only hope is my faith in what You did for me on the cross

which makes You

my Ultimate Defender.

Pray this Lazaroo in constantly renewing trust:

“In the last days, God says…Your young men will see visions…”
(Acts 2:17)

Exciting stuff, Jesus!

This promise includes the newbies – those with little, if any experience

who have nevertheless sold out to you.

What hope this gives them!
What a sense of inclusion, purpose, empowerment!

Those with years of experience, who have paid their dues

should be thrilled as well.

Fresh ideas, fresh legs, fresh faith are no threat!

They’re Your answer to Your Godly old-timers’
fervent prayers.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“Not a man of this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your forefathers…”
(Deuteronomy 1:35)

Did You break Your word to them, Jesus?

No.
Absolutely not.
Unthinkable.

Your promise was made to their forefathers, not to them.

The only way they could be included
was to walk in the faith of their forefathers.

They didn’t.
End of story.

End of their story…not mine.

Undoubtedly You’ve made some promises to my forefathers.

I want in.

Pray this Lazaroo, enthralled:

“So they…spent that day with him.”
(John 1:39)

Andrew and his friend spent the whole day with You, Jesus.

Man!

It’s hard for me not to be envious. After all, there’s no way –

Oh.

Right. There is.

If I really wanted to

I could spend a whole day with You.
Just the two of us.
1on1.

It would take some doing.
I’d have to rearrange my schedule, call in a few favors.

But I could.
If I wanted to.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“The Merarites were appointed to take care of the frames of the tabernacle…its posts…”
(Numbers 3:36)

That’s about as plain, unremarkable and mundane as it gets, Jesus:

a post.

But not just any post!

A post that helps hold up Your tabernacle
which makes it one of the greatest ever.

I’m pretty plain, unremarkable and mundane myself

but if I can be a post

or make one 😉

that upholds the truth of Your Word

my eternal worth is incalculable.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep desire:

“As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears…
(Luke 1:44)

…something truly amazing happened.

I don’t know that any of my greetings
has ever had that effect, Jesus.

But it would be awesome!

I’m not really talking about what happened to Elizabeth
when Mary spoke, the baby leaped in her womb
and she was filled with the Holy Spirit.

What I mean is

I’d love to so faithfully convey Your message
that somebody’s life forever changes.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy introspection:

“…does what is forbidden in any of the commands of the LORD his God, he is guilty.”
(Leviticus 4:22)

No difference between big and small sins there, Jesus.

If I break any of Your commands – no matter how tiny –
I’m guilty.

Of course, that doesn’t mean there’s no difference.

If I lie about my age
that’s not as bad as a mass murderer.

But both – my tiny one and his horrific one –

are still sins…

…and I’m still guilty.

Pray this Lazaroo with yearning:

“But go, show yourself…”
(Mark 1:44)

You were telling this man whose leprosy You had just healed, Jesus

to go show himself to the priest
so he’d be allowed back in normal society.

But that’s what every one of us You’ve touched should do.

We should go show ourselves
to anyone who’ll look.

They need to see what You can do for them

if they will open themselves to You.

Like Moses after being with You

make me radiant!

Pray this Lazaroo, in awe:

“God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.”
(Exodus 3:14)

If anyone else said that by way of introduction, Jesus

it would seem rude.

But when Moses asked Your Name

that’s what You had to tell Him.

What else could You say?

You’re not like anyone else!

Everyone else – in one way or other – is like You.

You made us in Your Image.

Having said that…

I’d like to look a lot more like You

than I do.

Pray this Lazaroo in sudden awareness:

“…refusing to be comforted…”
(Matthew 2:18)

When the pain is that great, Jesus…

only then does someone refuse to be comforted.

It’s hard on their friends and family, who desperately want to help.

But far harder on the one who grieves.

The words, gestures, offers to “let me know if you need anything”

are not only useless

they’re offensive –

as if such things could somehow lessen the agony.

Is that how You felt, Father

when they crucified Your Son?
