Pray this Lazaroo with a committed, fervent spirit:

“…see the great unrest within her…”
(Amos 3:9)

Could there be a more timely and fitting prayer, Jesus?

Amos penned these words in 766 B.C. – nearly 3,000 years ago!
But they’re as current as today’s breaking news.

The COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak
world governments in turmoil
rabid political divisions within countries
persecution of Your people around the globe

But Your words through your prophet remind us:

This ain’t nuthin’ new.

You handled it then

and You’ll handle our 2020 issues just fine.

Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Before them…the sun and moon are darkened, and the stars no longer shine.”
(Joel 2:10)

I can hardly imagine an army of locusts so dense, Jesus…

that all the lights of the sky are blocked from sight
covered in a thick, undulating blanket.

No ordinary locust swarm, that.

You sent a plague of supernatural locusts on Your people

a terrifying invasion of epic proportions.

You warned them again and again!

But they ignored You until

it was too late.

Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“Hear the word of the LORD…”
(Hosea 4:1)

Hearing Your Word Jesus

is more than allowing my ears to register a sound.

It’s more than understanding what You say –
more, even, than agreeing with what You say.

It’s doing what You say.

Hearing – really hearing –
always results in obedient action.

So if I don’t obey

I haven’t heard You.

And if I don’t obey

the consequences You’ve warned me about will befall me

whether I’ve heard them or not.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
(Revelation 2:10)

I know Your promise is true, Jesus!

It motivates me.

But knowing that being faithful to You might lead me to be tortured to death

puts a damper on my enthusiasm.

That may not be the path You’ve chosen for me

but why not?
Countless millions of Your followers have been martyrs.

So if it is…

help me remain faithful.

Pray this Lazaroo with full-on ardor:

“No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about…”
(Daniel 2:27)

I love it, Jesus!

When the king asked Daniel if he could interpret his dream
Daniel could have said, “Absolutely! I can do it! I’m your man!”

But he didn’t.

Instead, he revealed his inadequacy, his inability
his utter dependence on You.

May I never be afraid to confess my limitations

and my total, complete, wholly dependent reliance

on You.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“…they…flatter others…”
(Jude 1:16)

Complimenting people is a good thing, Jesus.

We all need encouragement!

When someone does something good…when they give it all they’ve got

use me to give them an emotional boost, to lift their spirits!

But flattery isn’t that.

Flattery is insincere.

Flattery is buttering people up so they can be manipulated.

May I never, never, NEVER be guilty of that!

And when someone tries to use flattery on me

may I see straight through their duplicity.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I heard behind me a loud rumbling sound…”
(Ezekiel 3:12)

That would get my attention, Jesus!

For good reason.

It wasn’t a wagon, a rock or a herd of animals.
It was the sound of the wings of supernatural beings!

Shivers. Terror. Awe. Goose bumps.

I’ve never heard that sound Ezekiel heard

but You led him to share it with me so I could imagine it.

But not only imagine it.
Anticipate it!

…when I join him in heaven.

Pray this Lazaroo with a corrected attitude:

“…receiving no help…”
(3 John 1:7)

When I ask for help and no one responds

it makes me feel lonely, abandoned, even unloved, Jesus!

But should I have that response?

It’s not like I’ve helped everyone
who would have appreciated my help.

So what’s my problem?

It’s a learning opportunity, isn’t it?

Maybe the time wasn’t right.
Maybe I didn’t ask the right people.
Maybe I’m supposed to do it myself.

After all, I’m never alone.

I have You.

Pray this Lazaroo in trusting obedience:

“…deal with them…”
(Lamentations 1:22)

…because I can’t, Jesus!

Oh, I can deal with my enemies

poorly
in a way
inadequately
blindly

but not like You can!

You know which of them I now regard as enemies

will one day become my friends.

You know which of them are acting innocently

and which are acting with evil, malevolent intent.

So I’m going to do my best to obey You

by praying for them

and ask You to handle it.

Pray this Lazaroo with undying love:

“And this is love: that we walk in obedience…”
(2 John 1:6)

Contrary to popular opinion, Jesus

love isn’t a feeling.

Feelings are deceptive.

Sometimes I feel good when I should feel bad.
Sometimes I feel bad when I should feel good.

Feelings are about me.

Obedience is about You –

and those around me
who can’t feel what I feel

but who know they’re loved
when they see the evidence.

Feelings come and go.

Love stays.
Because love obeys.
