Pray this Lazaroo in sweet recognition:

“But brothers and sisters…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:17)

What a great reminder, Jesus!

People worldwide who claim You as their Savior –
some of whom attend my church –

are not just Christians
not merely acquaintances
even friends.

They’re family –
my forever brothers and sisters.

If my dad is a Christian

he’s also my brother.

If my mom is a Christian

she’s also my sister.

If my biological brother or sister are Christians

they’re also…well…

better than a mere brother or sister!

See if you can keep track of this Lazaroo!

“Makir took a wife from among the Huppites and Shuppites.”
(1 Chronicles 7:15)

It’s fascinating to trace the ancestry of these people, Jesus!

Jacob and Rachel had two sons: Joseph and Benjamin.

Rachel died while giving birth to Benjamin
who was an ancestor of the Huppites and Shuppites.

Makir was the grandson of Benjamin’s other brother Joseph.

So when Makir chose a Huppite-Shuppite girl
he was marrying a many-times-removed cousin!

If that matters to You…

it matters to me.

Get ready! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people.”
(Colossians 1:26)

We of this generation are blessed beyond words, Jesus!

Sometimes we feel sorry for ourselves
wishing we had seen the parting of the Red Sea

longing to have sat in the crowd of 5,000
You miraculously fed with the loaves and fishes.

But You save something special for every generation of Your people!

Will ours be the Rapture?

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“Elisha said, ‘As surely as the Lord Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not pay any attention to you.’”
(2 Kings 3:14)

What a teaching, Jesus!

There really are people I should respect
people to whom I should pay attention

and people I’d be wise to ignore.

Yes, You command me to love everyone

but when it comes to my time and attention
to consider the source.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition…”
(Philippians 2:3)

That’s a tall order, Jesus!

Oh, not because I don’t agree.
But because selfish ambition is so hard to recognize.

Oh, not all that hard to recognize in others.
But devilishly hard to recognize in myself.

I used the right word, didn’t I?

Selfish ambition comes straight from the pits of hell.

O God!

Forgive me for every self-centered thought and act!

Purify my ambition!
May I desire Your will

and Your will alone.

Pray this Lazaroo with a learning heart:

“King Solomon was told that Joab had fled to the tent of the Lord and was beside the altar. Then Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada, ‘Go, strike him down!’”
(1 Kings 2:29)

Joab was a powerful man, Jesus – the head of Israel’s army.

Solomon’s father David had tried to remove him, to no avail.
So he counseled his son Solomon to do it.

How did Solomon succeed when his father couldn’t?

You. Only You.
It was Your time.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.”
(Ephesians 2:15-16)

You’re talking about Jews and Gentiles, Jesus

but this miraculous, peacemaking gift You give
has the power to erase animosity
between any two groups of people.

HALLELUJAH!

There are a couple of groups
I’d really like to see You unite!

Pray this Lazaroo in utter gratitude:

“…Joab and Abishai pursued Abner, and as the sun was setting, they came to the hill of Ammah…Then the men of Benjamin rallied behind Abner. They formed themselves into a group and took their stand…”
(2 Samuel 2:24-25)

Sometimes it takes getting chased, picked on, attacked Jesus

before a person can get a little help.

At other times the help disappears

when people come after me.

O thank God!

that whether or not I have helpers

I always have You.

Pray this Lazaroo with driven desire:

“But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not!”
(Galatians 2:17)

It kills me to admit it, Jesus

but I sometimes find myself among the sinners.

That doesn’t mean You promote or excuse or overlook sin.

It means You’ve saved someone
who still needs a whole lot of work!

I’m ready to go to work, Holy Spirit.

Please.
I beg You:

Help me.
