Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.”
(1 Corinthians 2:1)

Is there any better proclamation, Jesus?
Might there be somewhere on earth a greater story to tell?
Is there anywhere in all creation a higher message to share?

No.
There is none.

Those who carry this testimony have embarked on the most important mission of all time

with heaven and hell in the balance

while those heed and act on its truth

are immediately deputized to spread it.

Pray this Lazaroo in utter trust:

“They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them.”
(Judges 2:12)

That’s the danger of hanging around the wrong people, isn’t it, Jesus?

That the gods they worship –

success, fame, money
sex, drugs, alcohol
sport, entertainment, popularity –

might entice me to follow them, rather than You.

Fool move?

Yup.

Their gods are no gods at all.

But the more time I spend in their world of smoke and mirrors

the deeper I sink into the quicksand of their lies.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“…what ought not to be done.”
(Romans 1:28)

I don’t like to think about this, Jesus.

It reminds me of all the times
I’ve been guilty of this very thing.

It’s bad enough when I make an innocent mistake
when I’m guilty of an unintended error in judgment

far worse when I know the good I ought to do
and don’t do it

when I know the evil I dare not do
and do it anyway.

Heal me, Father!

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“…you have brought your father and mother, your brothers and all your family into your house.”
(Joshua 2:18)

That’s my priority, isn’t it, Jesus?

Do everything I can to make sure everybody in my family
is in Your house.

Of course, the older they get

the less control I have.

There comes a day when control is gone

and all I have is influence.

Well…that’s not exactly true, is it?

I have You.

I can fall on my face and pray.

Be willing to accept Godly correction, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“These men are not drunk, as you suppose.”
(Acts 2:15)

It’s so easy to judge people, Jesus.

I know better.
But I still do it.

Why?

I don’t believe in it.
I hate it – and for a very good reason:

Others have harshly judged me.

Of all people, I know how much it hurts.

I don’t know what they’ve gone through.
I don’t know how badly they’re hurting right now.

Please!
Help me rid my mind of this evil.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“…the LORD your God, who went ahead of you on your journey…to search out places for you to camp…”
(Deuteronomy 1:32-33)

To camp, Jesus

not to live.

When You place me somewhere, it’s tempting to think it’s to stay

But that’s not what You have in store for me on this earth, is it?

Everywhere I go is an overnighter

a temp job
a stopover.

I’m a stranger here, in a foreign land.

This world
is not my home.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“…Jesus saw them following…”
(John 1:38)

That’s what I long for You to see, Jesus…

me following You

wholeheartedly – never reluctantly
closely – not from a distance.
consistently – not off and on
accurately – not haphazardly
passionately – not casually

all the way – without giving up.

It’s what I want others to see, too

so they’ll follow You.

But when they can’t see You clearly enough

may I follow You so faithfully

that they may safely follow me

as I follow You.

Pray this Lazaroo with wholehearted adoration:

“The number of all the males a month old or more who were counted was 6,200.”
(Numbers 3:34)

They missed some females, Jesus.

From the sound of it
there are some of each sex they may have missed entirely.

When You birthed Your Church

I’m so glad You changed all that!

Women count.
What would we do without them?
Where would Your Church be without their amazing service?

Every life matters to You

even those callous humans overlook.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb…”
(Luke 1:41)

I can’t blame the baby, Jesus.

The voice of the Messiah’s mother had just spoken.

The baby who leaped in Elizabeth’s womb was John

Your cousin
the promised Elijah
sent to prepare the way for You.

Of course, babies can’t know such things.

Unborn babies leap at unexpected sounds.

But this much I know:

If John had known whose voice it was
he would have leaped.

Pray this Lazaroo in profound gratitude:

“…take the bull outside the camp…”
(Leviticus 4:21)

This was no ordinary bull, Jesus –

it was slaughtered as a sin offering.

You were teaching your people how horrible it was to disobey You:

Something had to die.

You were also preparing them for the day when they would finally realize that a bull wasn’t enough

that our sins could only be paid for

when they took You outside the city

and You laid down Your life for us.
