Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.’ Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
(Acts 2:40-42)

To this very day, Jesus…

those who’ve accepted Your message continue to be baptized.

May we, too, devote ourselves

to Your teaching
to fellowship
to the breaking of bread
and to prayer!

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“When you come to the Ammonites, do not harass them or provoke them to war, for I will not give you possession of any land belonging to the Ammonites. I have given it as a possession to the descendants of Lot.”
(Deuteronomy 2:19)

Lot chose for himself what he thought was the best land, Jesus

leaving Abraham second-best.

His descendants were the offspring of incestual relations with his daughters

who took advantage of him when he was drunk.

And yet…You blessed them!

How great is Your love!

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“To those who sold doves he said, ‘Get those out of here! How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market!’ His disciples remembered that it is written: ‘Zeal for your house will consume me.’”
(John 2:16-17)

Does zeal for Your house consume me, Jesus?

It should.
I know it should.

I should care more about the place You have provided for me to worship

than I do about the house where I live.

You first.
Everything else second.

Always.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“Aaron and his sons are to go into the sanctuary and assign to each man his work and what he is to carry. But the Kohathites must not go in to look at the holy things, even for a moment, or they will die.”
(Numbers 4:19-20)

There are some things that are off-limits for me, too, Jesus.

Please.
Show me what they are.

May I never desire

what You haven’t given me.

You’ve already given me

far more than I deserve!

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“…the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
(Luke 1:78-79)

We don’t deserve it, Jesus!

But in Your tender mercy

cause your rising sun to shine down on us
as we desperately grope about in this land of darkness
battling the stench of death

…and guide us all the way Home.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“The Lord said to Moses: ‘When anyone is unfaithful to the Lord by sinning unintentionally in regard to any of the Lord’s holy things, they are to bring to the Lord as a penalty a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value in silver, according to the sanctuary shekel. It is a guilt offering.’”
(Leviticus 5:14-15)

Even when I do wrong without knowing it

it’s still a sin, isn’t it, Jesus?

No excuses.

I need to confess it

and forsake it.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”
(Mark 2:21-22)

You were doing a New Thing, Jesus.

Their old ways couldn’t handle it.

I beg You!

Do a New Thing in me!

Pray this Lazaroo with wholehearted adoration:

“‘Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.’ But Moses said, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.’ Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses…”
(Exodus 4:12-14)

Moses didn’t want to go where You told him to go

nor do what You told him to do, Jesus.

Sometimes, neither do I –

when it looks extremely hard

even impossible.

But Moses ended up doing it, didn’t he?

No matter what, that’s what I have to do.

Every time.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“The tempter came to him and said, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.’ Jesus answered, ‘It is written: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”’”
(Matthew 3:3-4)

That’s how to deal with Satan’s temptations, isn’t it, Jesus?

Quote Your Word to him
then don’t budge an inch.

Of course, I have to instantly be ready with Your Word

the moment temptation comes.

Maybe I’d better do a little more homework.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.”
(Genesis 3:20)

You gave Adam the privilege of naming every animal in the Garden of Eden, Jesus.

But when Adam named Eve
that was utterly, profoundly different.

He knew it.

So he named her in accordance
with what she would become.

Adam was the first man.
Eve was the first woman.

Adam knew every child born in the future
would come from them.

Who will experience New Birth, Father…

because of me?
