Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“…the house of Joseph a flame…”
(Obadiah 1:18)

What an amazing prediction, Jesus!

Those who heard Obadiah’s prophecy in his day would have assumed he was referring only to the patriarch Joseph, son of Jacob.

But none could have guessed there would be another Joseph you would raise up 858 years later

to become the husband of a pregnant virgin named Mary
to provide a home and loving care for the Flame-Bearer of the ages

You!
Son of God.

Pray this Lazaroo in fervency of spirit

“Hear this word the LORD has spoken against you…”
(Amos 3:1)

There are a lot of words I don’t want to hear, Jesus

“I hate you”
“You’ve lost”
“You’re fired”
“It’s terminal”

but any word You would ever speak against me

is at the very top of that list.

I’d rather hear every curse ever uttered

than hear one word of condemnation from You.

What are the words I long to hear when I stand before You?

“Well done.”

Pray this Lazaroo in Godly, cleansing fear:

“With a noise like that of chariots…”
(Joel 2:5)

Much like someone unfortunate enough to be attacked by today’s

Abrams tank
Apache helicopter
A-10 Warthog

anyone hearing that sound would have been paralyzed with fear, Jesus

especially knowing it was You who sent them
because of their stubborn, willful sin.

You’ve punished Your people like that before, Father.

No doubt You’ll have to do it again.

But that’s not how I want to experience You!

I prefer to obey.

Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“…and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
(Hosea 2:23)

Is there any greater joy, Jesus?

than to share You with a friend, neighbor,
family member, coworker, stranger

and discover You’ve used me to draw them to Yourself?

to have them unashamedly declare in grateful worship:

“You are my God!”?

No matter how pleasurable, meaningful or important

nothing holds greater weight
none has deeper significance

because eternal life in heaven
eternal suffering in hell

were hanging in the balance.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“You have forsaken your first love.”
(Revelation 2:4)

You’re not referring to a boyfriend/girlfriend, are You, Jesus?

This isn’t about a husband or wife
not about a hobby, sport, possession or profession.

This is about You.

It goes all the way back to the moment I realized You loved me –

forever proved by Your death for me on the cross
when I responded with passionate, white-hot love for You.

If my love has cooled –

unimaginably…inexcusably…

ignite it again!

Beg God for understanding, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever…He gives…knowledge to the discerning.”
(Daniel 2:20-21)

At first glance this hardly seems fair, Jesus.

Discerning people already possess significant knowledge.
Why load them up with more?

Is it because the more You give a discerning person

the more they do with it?

On the other hand…

even when You inundate a foolish person with countless blessings
all they do is ignore, disrespect or squander them.

Which am I?

Pray this Lazaroo and be flooded with hope:

“They are…twice dead.”
(Jude 1:3)

Can’t get much worse than that, Jesus.

Not only were they dead to You now…

You knew their future:

They would remain dead to You eternally.

All of that while they were still moving, acting, breathing!

Dead people walking.

How many of those around me are twice dead, Father?

It’s not always apparent, is it?

Some of those who look most alive are corpses.

And some who look impossibly hopeless
You will utterly transform.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…peoples of obscure speech and difficult language…”
(Ezekiel 3:6)

They’re out there, Jesus

that’s for sure.

People I can’t understand.
Men, women and children whose language I can’t learn

because I don’t want to work that hard.

But they need You!

They have as much right to hear about Your

death
burial
resurrection

as I do.

I’ve got to pay the price, don’t I?

Love them.
Learn them.
Speak their language.

Or send someone in my place

who will.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“…your soul is getting along well.”
(3 John 1:2)

If only that were true, Jesus!

Oh, I’m not registering a complaint against You

My complaint
is against me.

You’ve been better than good to me.
You’ve never treated me as my sins deserve.
You’ve given me opportunities beyond counting

so why have I done so little with it?

While You and I do enjoy one another, I know this:

In Your strength
I’ve got to step up my game.

Pray this Lazaroo in fiery dedication:

“Listen, all you peoples…”
(Lamentations 1:18)

That’s quite an opening line, Jesus.

Jeremiah isn’t merely speaking to a group of his friends.
He isn’t limiting his remarks to those under the hearing of his voice.
He doesn’t aim his words at the nation of Israel alone.

Instead, he sends this message to everyone on earth

not only to those living in his day
but to all people of all time

including me.

Why?

They’re not his words.
They’re Yours.
