Pray this Lazaroo in complete awe:

“Have we not all one Father?”
(Malachi 2:10)

Yes, Jesus.

You proclaimed it through Moses 3,400 years ago:

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”

You reaffirmed it more than 1400 years later to a crowd of stunned Jews:

“I and the Father Are One.”

The Holy Spirit Who indwells every believer

is You

which explains Your enigmatic declaration in the very beginning:

“Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…”

Pray this Lazaroo in utter amazement:

“‘I will live among you,’ declares the LORD.”
(Zechariah 2:10)

What an unexpected promise, Jesus!

When they heard it
they couldn’t have imagined how it could come to pass.

The Creator of the heavens and earth?
actually moving in and living next door?

They probably assumed it had some non-literal meaning.

But it didn’t.

You did what You said You would do!

You entered this earth as a baby!
and we had You with us for 33 amazing, miraculous years.

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“…from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month…”
(Haggai 2:18)

Sometimes You deliberately keep me in the dark, Jesus –

for my own good.

But at other times – like now – You nail the very day.

The ninth month You’re referring to is Kislev.

This year 24 Kislev falls on my December 22nd.
Last year it fell on my December 2nd.

That’s because the Jewish calendar is lunar
and my western calendar is solar.

But all time

belongs solely to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“…the fierce anger of the LORD…”
(Zephaniah 2:2)

I don’t like to think of You this way, Jesus

but I know it’s real.

You’re longsuffering, slow to anger, abounding in love…

but there’s a line.

When one of Your children repeatedly, willfully, unapologetically crosses it

You make certain they realize
that they have done a foolish thing.

I’ve known Your well-deserved discipline countless times, LORD

but never Your wrath.

With Your help

I’d like to keep it that way.

Pray this Lazaroo in spiritual sobriety:

“…you have destroyed…cities…”
(Habakkuk 2:8)

The mistake I make, Jesus

(among many others)

is in focusing on the evil that Satan and his minions have done

rather than on the reality of what You will do in response
when the times have reached their fulfillment.

I see too small a section of the puzzle

to be able to fathom how You’re piecing it all together.

So what am I left with, Father?

Trust.
Rock-solid trust.

In the end
You win.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“They look like flaming torches…”
(Nahum 2:4)

That’s not what they were, Jesus

but it’s sure what those invading chariots looked like.

When fear grips my heart…when I’m under attack…

my mind can play tricks on me
my emotions can skew what I perceive.

Deliver me from that weakness, LORD!

May my well-founded faith in You be so strong
that when Satan launches his offensive

I am calmer, braver and sharper than usual –

my every move
guided by You.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“…those who pass by without a care…”
(Micah 2:8)

I’ve seen them, Jesus –

blithely parading past me
not a worry in the world.

Because of the burdens I carry

it’s easy to be envious.

Of course, some of them are faking it.

They may be struggling
but don’t want to show it.

Others aren’t caring enough to have a care.

I’d rather not be in their number.

Help me truly care, LORD!

knowing all the while:

You’ve got this.

Pray this Lazaroo in gratitude-packed passion:

“…proclaim to it the message I give you.”
(Jonah 3:2)

That’s my assignment, isn’t it, Jesus?

Wherever You send me
I’m to proclaim the message You give me.

Sometimes the message is in words

at other times through actions, attitude.

More than a few times
it’s about what I don’t do or say.

This isn’t a temporary assignment, is it?

It’s permanent – every day, week, month, year
all the way to the end here

and into heaven eternally.
