Pray this Lazaroo in stunned realization:

“Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.”
(James 3:10-12)

I think You just nailed me, Jesus.

Do I praise You?

Yes. Absolutely.

Do I sometimes speak judgmental words of anger and disrespect?

Sadly, I do.

Looks like I’m due for some

spring cleaning.

Pray this Lazaroo with resolute intent:

“‘I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.’ While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them. Then he said: ‘Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David.’”
(2 Chronicles 6:2-4)

You always keep Your Word, Jesus!

With Your help

may I do the same.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful love:

“…we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.”
(2 Corinthians 4:14-15)

Wow, Jesus.

What an awesome incentive to share my faith!

The more people who trust You as Savior
the more we will praise and thank You!

You deserve all the glory…

and so much more.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?”
(James 3:9-11)

May my words always come from Your fresh water spring, Jesus!

You did not create my lips to spew salt water!

Keep me faithful to Your Word

as I store up Your truths within me.

Pray this Lazaroo in obedient trust:

“Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
(1 Corinthians 4:5)

Even when I obey and follow You with all my heart, Jesus

my praise may not come now.

I need to be okay with that.

By faith, help me fix my eyes on my reward in heaven.

Please don’t let me become discouraged

when it all blows up in my face on earth.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“‘Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,’ declares the Lord.”
(Obadiah 1:4)

You said it, Jesus:

“Pride goes before destruction
a haughty spirit before a fall.”

I can testify!

You’ve had to drop me to my knees.
More than once.

But praise Your Holy Name!

Again and again and again
You’ve lifted me back up!

May I never forget:

The way to stay up
is to stay down.

Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.”
(Joel 2:26)

One day all of us will have plenty to eat, Jesus

but not yet.

One day all of us will avoid shame

but that day is still in the future.

However, there is one thing we can do:

We can praise Your holy Name!
For you have, indeed, worked wonders for us!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets. The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord.”
(2 Chronicles 5:12-13)

You’ve given me gifts, too Jesus.

From the bottom of my heart:

Thank You!

May I work to fully develop them

to bring maximum glory to Your Great Name!

Pray this Lazaroo in humble gratitude:

“A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.”
(Romans 2:28-29)

Wow.

You’re saying I’m not a Jew because my parents were Jews.

I’m a Jew

because I believe in You, Jesus –

the King of the Jews
the Root and Offspring of David.

Pray this Lazaroo in heart pounding love:

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood…”
(1 Peter 2:9)

It’s awesome to hear this, Jesus!

But it’s also hard to hear.

I don’t feel worthy.
Why would You choose the likes of me?

I don’t feel like royalty.
When I look in the mirror, I see a commoner.

Who am I to function as a priest?
I’ve got my hands full with my sinning self.

But praise Your holy Name!

I don’t have to feel it
for it to be 100% true.
